Holcim (Australia) Pty Ltd proposes to acquire the assets and business of Burdett Group Pty Ltd. This transaction involves two building materials suppliers. Holcim, a multinational, and Burdett's, a family-operated business, both supply sand, hard rock aggregates, and ready-mix concrete in Southeast Victoria and the Langwarrin area.
Holcim (Australia) Pty Ltd ( Holcim ) proposes to acquire the assets and business of Burdett Group Pty Ltd ( Burdett's ). Holcim is a Swiss multinational company that supplies building materials. In Australia, Holcim supplies sand and hard rock aggregates, ready-mix concrete ( RMX ), engineered concrete solutions and precast pipes. Holcim supplies RMX under the ‘Holcim’ and ‘VicMix’ brands. Burdett’s is a family-operated business. Its core business is supplying processed extractive sands along with soils and landscaping materials for customers in the South-East of Melbourne. Burdett’s also operates an RMX plant in Langwarrin. Both Holcim and Burdett’s supply sand and hard rock aggregates in Southeast Victoria, and RMX in the local area surrounding Langwarrin. Sand and hard rock aggregates are used as inputs into RMX and other products such as glass. RMX has a variety of applications, including in construction and landscaping. There is an existing commercial relationship between the Parties in that Holcim has supplied Burdett’s small volumes of sand on an ad hoc basis and Burdett’s has provided cartage services to Holcim from time to time.
