Akzo Nobel N.V. ( AkzoNobel ) and Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. ( Axalta ) are proposing a merger whereby a wholly owned subsidiary of AkzoNobel will merge with and into Axalta, following which Axalta will merge with and into a second AkzoNobel subsidiary, with AkzoNobel remaining as the surviving entity. AkzoNobel will be renamed, with the final name to be determined at a later stage. AkzoNobel is a global paints and coatings manufacturer headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. AkzoNobel produces and markets paints and coatings, including automotive and speciality coatings, powder coatings, industrial coatings, and marine and protective coatings, for professional, do-it-yourself, and industrial end users. Axalta is a global coatings manufacturer and distributer headquartered in Philadelphia, USA. Axalta supplies a range of coating solutions, including vehicle refinish coatings for light vehicles, commercial vehicles, electric motors, and building facades. AkzoNobel and Axalta overlap in the supply of vehicle refinish and powder coatings in Australia.
