Acquisition details

SLB N.V. (together with its subsidiaries, SLB ) is proposing to acquire S&P Global Inc.’s ( S&P Global ) geoscience software portfolio (the Acquisition ). SLB is a global technology company that provides equipment, software and technical services, including subsurface evaluation, drilling and production services, to customers in the energy sector. Relevantly, SLB supplies exploration and production software including Petrel, Eclipse, Intersect, OFM, Techlog, Omega, Petromod, DrillPlan, Pipesim and Olga. S&P Global is an information, data, analytics, ratings, indices and commodity-information business. S&P Global also operates an energy division which provides independent information and benchmark prices for the energy and commodity markets; and geoscience software used to scope, plan and monitor oil and gas well development. S&P Global’s geoscience portfolio (the target of the Acquisition) comprises the following software, used in upstream oil and gas exploration and production workflows: Kingdom, Petra, Harmony Enterprise, Analytics Explorer, SubPUMP, PowerTools, FieldDIRECT, Piper, WellTest and Element.

The ACCC has prepared a questionnaire on the Acquisition. Submissions or information in response to the questionnaire should be provided by 8 July 2026 via email to mergers@accc.gov.au with the title SLB – S&P Global’s Geoscience Software Portfolio. The ACCC’s ability to give detailed consideration to submissions received after this time may be limited.
