Summary

Sydney Water Corporation will acquire the South Windsor wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, and reticulation system from Hawkesbury City Council. This asset acquisition expands Sydney Water's wastewater services into the Hawkesbury City local government area, where it currently provides drinking water. The transaction is in the sewerage and drainage services industry.

Acquisition details

Sydney Water Corporation ( SWC ) proposes to acquire from the Hawkesbury City Council ( HCC ) the following assets of the Windsor Sewerage Scheme in New South Wales: the South Windsor wastewater treatment plant; and the pumping stations and reticulation system (pipes and mains) required to supply wastewater services to customers in the Hawkesbury City local government area (the Acquisition ). SWC is a State Owned Corporation established under the Sydney Water Act 1994 and State Owned Corporations Act 1989 . SWC provides water and wastewater services across the greater Sydney metropolitan region, but it currently does not provide wastewater services for most of the Hawkesbury City local government area. However, Sydney Water does provide drinking water services for most of the Hawkesbury City local government area. The HCC is a body politic of the State of NSW constituted under the Local Government Act 1993 . HCC provides wastewater services to properties in part of the Hawkesbury City local government area through the Windsor Sewerage Scheme. The Windsor Sewerage Scheme comprises two wastewater treatment plants at McGraths Hill and South Windsor, 21 pumping stations and the associated reticulation systems. The McGraths Hill wastewater treatment plant will continue to be owned and operated by the HCC pending delivery of a sewage pumping station at McGraths Hill at which point it is expected that the McGraths Hill wastewater treatment plant will be bypassed.
